I wanted to expose my son to as many different types of music as possible, so I decided to make a playlist that was normalized to genre, not popularity.
I used data from http://everynoise.com, and spotify to generate a playlist (filtering out songs with explicit lyrics), and (because we use google music, not spotify), generates a google music playlist.
We listen to this every morning, and I've actually found some music I would have never listened to myself.
code: https://github.com/spiffomatic64/SpotifyToGmusic
Here is the current playlist it generated: https://play.google.com/music/playlist/AMaBXylr_pjfqWa596EANTmajgBOAkoJi1r1rHjGBjFP6yMGpHMZGPoRMOd7YVG5gPKjdkn_Et1YT7s0pU3pJuB8hpIgyNw6yg%3D%3D
